Project #3: Installing a Hose Reel

Do you see the portion of the above photo that's in focus?  The back part by the house on top of all that mulch.  That's where we've been keeping the hose for the past two years.  Yep, right there on the ground in a messy pile.  I'm embarrassed to admit the procrastination of this project.

This metal hose reel cost us $8.99, plus some screws suitable for brick.  We have no excuses for dragging our feet.  We've managed to stunt the growth of a ground cover plant and shorten the bloom time of the peonies last year because either our feet or the hose kept getting in the way.

Here's the best tip I can give you for this project.  Stick some duct tape on the surface you're drilling into and mark where you need the holes to go.  It saves you from a lot of guess work and a crumbly mess.  You can thank the friendly employee at Parkrose Hardware for that one!
