Project #1: A Place to Hang Measuring Cups and Spoons

This is a past project, and since it's a bit of an afterthought, I'm not prepared with before and after photos.  Instead, close your eyes and picture a blank cabinet door.  Got it?  Okay.  Now picture a tiny kitchen that's begging for creative solutions to add space.  Yep, it was one of my few hesitations when buying our house because I couldn't picture how everything would fit.  Luckily, there's an Ikea close by and I have a husband who likes to install shelves.  Turns out, space hasn't really been a problem.  Since moving in we've added a cabinet and shelving to the laundry room, which has basically created a pantry.  Even so, I'm still trying to make small adjustments that will give us a little extra room.  This is one of them.  It's a simple project I've wanted to do for a long time, but just wasn't getting around to it.  I saw something very similar on Pinterest (here's the original link, you'll have to scroll to the bottom of the page), but had been dragging my feet because it involved some construction.  On Friday night it occurred to me that instead of creating wooden boards and hooks, I could just buy two of those sets of wall hooks they make for keys.  One trip to Target later and a couple of swapped screws (the ones it came with were too long and would go through the cabinet door) and voila -- extra space in the utensil drawer!

The one drawback is that there's not enough space for those extra spoons that come with the set, but I got one of those mini drawer organizer baskets to help keep those and other small things organized.

And since this wasn't the most exciting post, I'll throw in a picture of my dog I took tonight.  Because, well, who doesn't need more long-haired dachshund in their life?
